another year, another birthday 12.07.

These ice-cream themed cupcakes were made for my niece’s 9th birthday party.   The cupcakes were baked in regular cupcake liners and then placed into ice-cream cups.  They were iced, topped with sprinkles, chocolate sauce and a gumball cherry.   An ice-cream spoon was inserted for an added effect.  Behind the tray of cupcakes were buckets of mini cones dipped in sprinkles and filled with smarties (see more pictures after the jump).

It seems like all the previous commentators have used up all the adjectives that so aptly describes your effort. What more can I say, except, absolutely out of this world. Once again, CONGRATULATIONS on a task excellently executed. The photography is equally outstanding.

What a fun idea! I’ll have to keep these in mind when my daughter turns 6 in a couple of months!

When I was a kid, my friend mother used to make cupcakes hidden in ice-cream cones. To this day they are still one of the most magical desserts in my memory.

Love you idea. I am going to do this for my kids birthday. I am having a hard time finding ice cream cups. Any suggestion on where to look?

Sugar Addict 03.03.

Thanks Mindy.
Amazon has some ice-cream cups…….the ones that they have there are ones that I had first bought but did not use. They are bigger than the ones shown in my picture, so your cupcakes won’t fit snugly inside (there will be a gap between the edge of the cup and the cupcake). I’m not sure where you live, but this store also has the cups http://www.goldaskitchen.com/

What did you use to make the sprinkles stick to the cones?

Sugar Addict 30.07.

IOC,

I used white chocolate to get the sprinkles to stick to the cones.
